Plug and Measure - Intelligent Sensors

The “Plug & Measure” system from Metrum is a engineering concept that makes complex settings for measurement devices simpler. Its main feature is TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) memory chips, which for existing sensors, can be added into the cable run and a calibration database integrated into the data acquisition setup software. For TEDS compatible transducers it is simply a case of plugging them directly into the data acquisition unit.  The CRONOS-PL, C1 and CANSAS modules support TEDS automatic sensor recognition as per IEEE P1451 and allow its use with any commercially available sensor. “Plug & Measure” supplies all parameters necessary for setting the measurement device (sensor calibration data, connection configuration, excitation voltage, channel name, sample rate, triggers etc) in the TEDS. This information is stored for each measurement channel separately on an integrated EEPROM system contained in a tube in the sensor line.
