History of Metrum
Metrum Information Storage
Limited was formed in 1991 following a management buy-out of the Test
Instruments Division of Honeywell. The company has continued to grow
through both organic and acquisitional means:
In 1994, Metrum augmented
its existing portfolio of equipment with the purchase of the
rights to the UV range of recorders from Micromovements.
Increased
activity in 1997 saw two key strategic acquisitions; firstly the
business and assets of Penny and Giles Data Systems
Limited provided an engineering and production capability for
Metrum. Secondly, the purchase of Datatape
International Limited, provided significant support business for the
highly renowned Bell and Howell and Transinstruments range of data
recording equipment.
In 1999, the railway
measurement and monitoring business and tape cleaning certification and
supply business of RiL Instruments Limited and TDM Tape Services Limited
was added. Metrum's most recent acquisition was
undertaken in April 2001, when a full share purchase of Electro
Mechanical Designs Limited was completed. This provides the
company with a world leading design and development capability for
products and systems. Registered
