Requirement:
Metrum was asked to help investigate room temperatures
in a newly commissioned building. The client was experiencing
difficulty maintaining room temperature and the staff were complaining
about cold areas and drafts which were causing discomfort and in some
cases illness.
Solution:
The Thermographic survey was non-invasive which enabled
the investigation to proceed during working hours. Although the
building was new, insulation and sealing problems were identified by the
NEC TH7102MV camera, which was able to isolate very small temperature
differentials on the walls, ceilings and windows. These are
indicated by the blue areas on the Thermal image below.
Outcome:
Metrum presented a full report to the client, with both
thermal and visual images for the easy identification of problem areas
together with recommendations based on its findings. This report
was then passed to the builder who was able to rectify the problems
at minimum cost and disruption.
