imc CANSAS

Intelligent, CAN-Bus network capable measurement and I/O modules

Decentralised, CAN-Bus networkable, measurement modules for measuring physical quantities.

The CANSAS family of modules are compact, rugged and CAN-Bus network capable. Any signal sources or sensors, such as voltage, current, temperature, strain-gauges, ICP, RPMs, displacement etc. Can be connected directly and transmitted over long distances without distortion making the connection of complicated measurement lines totally obsolete.

Within the CANSAS measurement module, the analogue signals are processed and transformed to CAN messages. A digital signal processor (DSP) allows computation of the signals in real time, which provides for intelligent measurement and significant data reduction. A wide variety of functions such as filtering, averaging, min/max, re-sampling, real-time data reduction and much more, are available.

The CANSAS modules are configured using an intuitive software interface that means no specialist knowledge in CANbus technology is required. After initial configuration the CANSAS module is connected to a sensor and will start measuring as soon as it is powered up. The measured data is then continuously transmitted to the CANbus at a user-specified transfer rate. This makes the CANSAS modules highly suitable for integration into 3rd a party test and measurement system.

CANSAS application areas

Road and rail vehicles, air and space craft, manufacturing and power plants etc.

Anywhere a distributed measurement network is required to transfer signals from a large area cheaply and noise-free to a central location.

Implementation of analogue sensors on intelligent CANbus networks

In cases requiring inexpensive, potential isolated acquisition of many channels

Wherever conditions in the measurement's environment require a compact, robust system capable of operating in an environment with a wide temperature range, where conventional measurement equipment is not an option.

CANSAS as a Personal Analyser

CANSAS is also a Personal Analyser enabling the processing of measurement data in real-time. In conjunction with a high-performance digital signal processor (DSP) and the software interface, virtual channels can be set up. The calculation instructions are entered using, conventional mathematical notation. Virtual (computed) channels are treated just as other channels. Performing additional data processing on the virtual channels is also possible.
