Requirement:
A large manufacturing company found that their heating
and energy bills were larger than expected, and asked Metrum to inspect
their premises using Infrared Thermography. This method is
non-invasive and allowed the inspection to proceed without requiring the
costly shut down of the plant.
Solution:
Investigation using the NEC TH7102MV Thermal camera found that
the insulation between the staircases and the production area was
defective and that as a result cold air was circulating around the
stairwells. These cold areas which are indicated by the blue
colour on the thermal image below meant that more heating was being
applied to the warehouse working area and as a result the energy bill
was increasing. The TH7102MV camera found the cold areas of the
surrounding walls very quickly
Outcome:
A report showing both digital and thermal images and
recommendations was issued to the Chief Engineer to enable corrective
work to be instigated.
